About the South Gippsland Branch

The South Gippsland Branch of the Ulysses Club is based around the towns of Korumburra / Leongatha, we have members from all parts of South & West Gippsland.

In 2002 Lindsay Powney & Andrew Grayden felt that there was a need in the area for like minded people who enjoyed riding their motorbike & meeting others with the same interest to gather for rides and social events. So after some research Val Grayden along with Lindsay and Andrew decided on starting a Ulysses group, this meant phone calls to Ulysses H.Q in NSW to establish how to form a new branch. We then put an ad in the local papers letting people know that we needed an expression of interest from locals to be able to start a group, all we needed was people who enjoyed riding with others, etc. So we had a BBQ in McInode Park for people to come as a meet & greet, to get names & numbers. We asked them to turn up on their motorcycles, we had approx 42 people come to the meet & greet. This formed the start of the South Gippsland Branch, a committee was formed and the rest history.

We welcome all riders 40 years & over (and their partners).

Our members range in age from low 40’s to mid 80’s and come from all walks of life with a fascinating range of motorcycling and general life experiences.

If you are new to motorcycle riding there are lots of experienced riders who are willing to help you with any queries that you may have.

We have a coffee morning every Saturday at Kelly’s Bakery in Korumburra, sarting around 10.15am and finishing anytime around 1pm, sometimes later. People come and go whenever they like – we’re a fairly relaxed group.
The group rides all year round in varied and stunning terrain, winding around the roads that surround the area. On any ride you could be riding past the trees, tree ferns, creeks, rivers or along the coast line.

We have monthly Sunday rides, a couple of midweek rides each month and occasional overnight rides. We cater for all levels of riding ability. There is a ride leader and a “Tail-end Charlie”. Riders go at their own pace, you can just relax & cruise along or you can overtake others safely if you wish. Nobody can pass the ride leader as this would mean riders not arriving at the selected destination. Along the way riders follow the “corner-marker” system. It’s simple, it works, and nobody gets lost or left behind.

We have a local social event, on a Saturday night each month. We go to various venues around the district. We also have the occasional BBQ and social event at a members house.

Feel free to enquire or just come along to Kelly’s one Saturday morning.
